Our Story

The Shirui Studio began with a simple discomfort: most home textiles today are made fast, sold faster, and forgotten within a season. Fabric that looks good in a photo but thins out after a few washes. Prints that fade before the story behind them is even told.

We wanted something different — pieces made slowly, with fabric you could trust and craft you could feel. Not because slow is trendy, but because it's the only way to make something that actually lasts in a home.

This is version five of that idea, built one collection at a time, by one person who cares far too much about how cotton feels against skin.

Our Cotton

Everything begins with pure cotton. No blends passed off as premium, no shortcuts hidden behind soft lighting and good photography.

We chose cotton because it breathes. Because it stays cool through Indian summers and warms gently when layered for winter. Because it gets softer with every wash instead of thinner. From featherlight malmal to thicker, heavier weaves for cooler nights, every piece is chosen for the season it's meant to serve — and for the years it's meant to be used, not just the first month.

Our Craft

Some of our pieces are hand block printed by artisan printers in Sanganer and Jaipur, using techniques passed down through generations — Sanganeri, Bagru, Barmeri, Jaipuri. Others are machine printed, chosen for pieces where that finish simply works better.

But the technique is never the point. The cotton underneath stays the same — uncompromised, whichever hands or machines shape the print on top.

Where We're From

The Shirui Studio carries two homes in every piece. The quiet craft traditions of Rajasthan, where our cotton is sourced and printed. And Manipur, where the studio was first imagined, named after the state flower that blooms in its own time, on its own terms.

That distance taught us something worth keeping: good things travel slowly, and they're worth the wait.
